Translate voice chats as they happen.
Mimiq Pro turns speech into translated captions while a call is happening. Pick one of 25 languages; Mimiq posts the translation first and keeps the original line underneath.
Translate one call
Join the voice channel first. Then, in any text channel, open Discord’s command picker and run:
/captions start translate_to:Polish - voice_channel
- Where Mimiq should listen. Leave it blank to use the channel you are in.
- text_channel
- Where captions should appear. Leave it blank to use the voice channel’s built-in chat.
- translate_to
- The language everyone should read. This is the Pro-only translation option.
Starting and stopping captions requires Manage Channels. Mimiq detects the spoken language automatically, so there is no source-language setting.
What appears in Discord
Example target language: English
María: What time are we starting?
Original: ¿A qué hora empezamos?
If translation is briefly unavailable, Mimiq posts the original instead of losing the caption.
Translate selected channels automatically
Server admins can save one target language and let Mimiq start whenever someone joins a chosen voice channel.
- Open the server
Go to mimiq.gg/servers, choose your server, then open General.
- Turn it on
Under Automatic captions, enable Start captions automatically and Translate automatic captions.
- Choose the language
Pick the target under Translate into, select every voice channel that should use it, and save.
Mimiq starts when a person joins one of those channels and stops when everyone leaves. Changing the saved language restarts an active automatic session with the new target.
During the call
/captions status Check which voice and text channels are connected and whether translation is running.
/captions stop End a manually started caption session. Automatic sessions also stop when the voice channel empties.
Good to know
- Live caption translation requires Mimiq Pro. Regular manual captions remain available on Free.
- The target-language menu has 25 options, including English, Spanish, French, German, Polish, Arabic, Japanese and Korean.
- Mimiq does not save a private transcript. Caption text is posted to the Discord channel you choose and may remain there until someone deletes it.
- If Discord has cached the old command, restart Discord and try
/captions startagain.
